PAL-C Strongly Condemns the July 11th Bombings in Mumbai, India

The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) which is based in Washington DC strongly condemns the heinous act of terrorism that was carried out in Mumbai, India on July 11, 2006. Eight coordinated commuter railway explosions rocked the city during evening rush hour traffic, killing at lease 200 people and injuring another 700.

In a statement issued by the U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday, July 11th, the United States condemned the “horrific terrorist attacks in Kashmir and Mumbai”. Rice stated, “Many people have lost their lives and many others have been injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. There is no political cause that can justify the murder of innocent people. The United States stands with India in the war against terror. Those responsible for these terrible acts should be swiftly brought to justice.” PAL-C wholeheartedly supports Rice and the U.S. government in their condemnation and call for justice.

PAL-C and the Pakistani American community express their sympathy and condolence to the victims, their families and friends, as well as the people of Mumbai. PAL-C is disgusted by the inhumanity and sheer barbarism of the attacks as well as saddened by the loss of innocent life. On behalf of the Pakistani American community, PAL-C urges the world community to join forces to condemn the attacks, their perpetrators and all supporters of terrorism.

The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is the only professional Pakistani-American advocacy organization that is located on Capitol Hill. It launched the Congressional Pakistan Caucus in May 2004 and works to raise awareness about Pakistani-American interests in Washington policy circles. Our activities include managing the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, liaisoning Pakistani officials and the community with Members of Congress, and mobilizing all Pakistani-Americans at the grassroots level. If you wish to learn more about PAL-C, please visit our website www.pal-c.org or email us at info@pal-c.org.

About PAL-C The Pakistani-American Leadership Center seeks to serve the interests of the Pakistani American community in the United States, to promote a positive image of Pakistan and Pakistani-Americans, and to increase their effective participation in America's political and public policy arenas.
